Bellhouse Kitchens recently completed a beautiful Portofino painted kitchen installation for clients at their home in Colchester, Essex. The project formed part of a larger home extension and focused on creating a stylish kitchen that was both practical and packed with bespoke design features.
The project ran from 18th July to 6th August 2021, delivering a stunning new kitchen tailored perfectly to the homeowners’ lifestyle.
At the initial survey stage, the clients had a clear vision for their kitchen and the features they wanted to incorporate. The goal was to create a statement space for cooking, entertaining and family life.
Key design elements included:
A range cooker built into the chimney breast
A large island with pendant lighting
Hidden access to the utility room
Concealed access to under-stairs storage
A dedicated cake baking cabinet
A boiling water tap
These elements helped create a kitchen that was both highly functional and visually impressive.
One of the most interesting challenges on this project was designing the kitchen around the existing chimney brickwork while incorporating the range cooker seamlessly into the layout.
Another key part of the design was ensuring that the access points to the utility room and under-stairs cupboard were hidden within the cabinetry, maintaining the clean aesthetic of the kitchen while still providing practical storage solutions.
Through careful planning and constant communication with both the client and the builders working on the extension, the installation ran smoothly from start to finish.
